The pendant is inspired by the traditional Taoist symbolism, with the Taiji (yin-yang) symbol and the traditional inscriptions Lei Zu Hui, Jiutian Yingyuan, which are also vintage style. It is made of silver tone with an antique look, and the leather cord and the piece of jewelry are also of traditional Chinese style.
The symbols of the Taoist Taiji & Thunder Deities
The Taiji symbol embodies the complementary nature of yin and yang, which are two opposing but interconnected forces that traditionally are considered to be part of a larger balance.
The pendant is also adorned with classic Taoist writings about thunder:
- Lei Zu Hui (雷祖讳) - related to the Taoist custom of thunder gods and ritual symbolism.
- A reference to Jiutian Yingyuan (九天应元), a name traditionally given to the Taoist thunder god tradition, especially the Nine Heavens Yingyuan Thunder Deity.
These elements combined with the Taiji symbol, create a unique association with Taoist culture, Chinese spiritual traditions and traditional symbolic art.
The symbols and inscriptions are not offered to make religious or supernatural claims, and are provided for cultural and decorative purposes.
