This Taoist-inspired pendant combines the traditional Chinese symbolism of protective talisman coins and the Bagua (Eight Trigrams). It is silver-toned and accented with blue-green turquoise, giving it a classic style that is inspired by Chinese folk art.

This modern looking pendant is designed to be a contemporary piece of jewelry that can be used to explore the traditional Chinese symbols and customs while also providing a cultural touch to your everyday attire.

The meaning of the design symbolism

Shan Gui Hua Qian (mountain demon spending money)

Shan Gui Hua Qian is a traditional Chinese talisman coin related to Daoist rituals and folk beliefs of protection. These decorative coins were different from regular coins, as they were valued for their inscriptions and symbolic designs. In the past some were thought to protect against evil influences and to bring peace and safety.

This pendant is inspired by that tradition and is designed in a vintage style that is wearable. It is not an authentic antique, nor is it a ritually consecrated talisman, but a modern reproduction.

Bagua (八卦) The Eight Trigrams

The Bagua is a series of eight trigrams that are traditionally used to describe various natural forces and patterns of change in traditional Chinese cosmology. The trigrams are closely related to the Yijing (Book of Changes), and are also used in Daoist-inspired art, traditional charms and decorative objects.

Bagua symbols are also believed to have a protective and balancing effect in folk and spiritual beliefs. The geometric designs are also a great feature of this pendant, adding to its unique visual appeal.

Turquoise — A Blue-Green Accent

The turquoise accent adds a hint of blue-green to the silver tone finish. Turquoise has been used in jewelry and decorative arts for a long time in various cultures, making it an ideal choice for a pendant that has a vintage style.
